I created this site for loads of reasons now that I think about it actually:
One, its kinda just really fun to make something that's CSS minimalist without having to worry about react components, state, what code is and isn't imparative, fetching content from backend, etc. To just be able to write a somewhat-raw HTML document is pretty sweet.
Two, as I'm getting ready to graduate, I'm sort of facing the pressure to conform to the outside world and am trying to push back as hard as I can. I'm for sure excited about the future but am nervous about having to change myself for the rest of the world as I age, not only for the people who sign my paycheck.
Three, modern social media is fucking bleak . Even as someone who doesn't contribute to most of it, everything is just so fast and seemingly souless. I hope to spend more time here and see what people have to say. Very rarely when people let it rip is it not at least interesting.
Four, I just want to tell my story. It's not exciting or remotely unique. I just want to be able to tell it how it is and know there won't be social consequences that follow me out of the indieweb -- or at the very least, that's what I want to be able to tell myself. If people are reading what I'm putting down, that would be pretty awesome.
